News & Notes: 12/06/2006

USMNT and now former Kansas City Wizards Forward Josh Wolff has been signed to a contract with 1860 Munich until the end of the 2007/08 season.

DC United defensive midfielder Brian Carroll took the field yesterday in a friendly match for Olympique Marseille. It appears that if Carroll did well, he will be offered a contract when the January Transfer window opens. Keeping Clyde Simms is looking more and more like a good idea.

NY Times.com has a good article about Jonathan Spector and how he is doing at West Ham United in the EPL.

Sir Alex Ferguson and his boys at Manchester United face their own little Champions League Final today at Old Trafford as they host Portugese club Benfica in the final match of the UEFA Champions League Group stage. United and Benfica played each other in this very same match last season, with United losing 2-1 and getting bounced from the Champions League. If United fails to pick up 1 point, they will be dropped to third place in their group and will be dropped to the UEFA Cup tournament. This season's Manchester United, regardless of their last two 1-0 losses, is a different side than the one that failed in Europe last season. I have a feeling that they will get the 1 point needed to move on.
